What You Can Do
1. Follow these safety tips:
Lock matches and lights in a drawer
Do not allow children to learn how to light matches, barbecues, etc.
Talk to your children about fire safety
Do not use electric blankets on any bed
Do not plug in electrical appliances near a bed
If bedding, a bed, or upholstered furniture ignite, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO
EXTINGUISH . . . LEAVE THE HOUSE IMMEDIATELY AND CALL 911 FROM A NEIGHBOR'S HOUSE
2. Email the CPSC at MNeily@cpsc.gov,
and demand fire-safe mattresses.
3. Ask your mattress retailer to carry flame-retardant
mattresses.
